The Lee County Homeless Coalition Proudly Honors Dorothy Adams as the 2019 Dean Blietz Award Winner
From her nomination:
Dorothy Adams is an amazing “young woman” (95 years old), who volunteers every day of her life. She has been volunteering much of her life and has been helping Saint Martin de Porres Outreach since we started serving dinner in 2014. She helps feed the homeless and less fortunate by creating a dinner for over 100 people two of the five nights that dinner is served every week. She not only cooks and helps serve, but she works hard to ensure that every individual who comes in is treated properly. Her goal is to make every one of the individuals coming in to eat feel loved, accepted and respected, and she delivers it in style. It is also essential for her that everything she serves is presented in style. Salads must be displayed like it is a high-end restaurant to ensure the guests are treated as everyone should be. Her Friday spaghetti dinner is very popular with our guests. Outside of her cooking days, she creates crafty items for a variety of areas (Gulf Coast Hospital, homeless individuals, and those suffering from the cold) and shares them with the homeless and less fortunate. Her days never end, and she is an incredible value to many organizations.
